Happy Friday everyone! Friday Favourites was originally created by Kibby from Something of the Book, but is now hosted by Lorraine from Geeky Galaxy. Make sure you check out both of their blogs, and join in with your own Friday Favourites!
Today’s topic is Favourite Villains and I am SO here for this! It is my heartfelt belief that a well-written villain can convince you that they are the hero. Plus, aren’t we all a little villain-y at times! No? Just me. Okay then…
Anyways! In no particular order, here are some of my favourite villains:
A.I.D.A.N. from The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – that reckless A.I. is the best. Sure, it may have murdered thousands of people… but it did it for a good reason?
Marcella from Vengeful by V.E. Schwab – Marcella is a MOOD!* She just wants to be the mob boss that her husband
is was because she knows she can do it better. Let the girl live her best life!
*I should probably clarify that by “MOOD”, I do not mean that I am going to test near-death experiences until I develop extraordinary powers and then go on a murderous rampage. I only mean that sometimes I extremely dislike people.
The Darkling from the Shadow and Bone series by Leigh Bardugo – this guy! He is a complete monster and I.. adore.. him. Yes, I am aware of how that sounds. I have no idea if this is a popular or unpopular opinion, but I truly feel that the Darkling and Alina should have teamed up and become a villainous, terrifying, power couple that tried to take over the world.
Zero from The Passage series by Justin Cronin – I specifically like Zero in the final book, The City of Mirrors, because we get to learn more about him. I loved it so much, and I highly recommend this series for everyone who likes fantasy/sci-fi/post-apocalyptic novels with intense story lines, brilliant world building, and characters that will rip your heart out.
Well, there you have it. Four of my favourite villains, but by no means all of my favourites.
Who are some of your favourite villains?!
