Happy Friday everyone! Friday Favourites was originally created by Kibby from Something of the Book, but is now hosted by Lorraine from Geeky Galaxy. Make sure you check out both of their blogs, and join in with your own Friday Favourites!
This week’s topic is Confessions of Love, and I have decided to only talk about one. That’s right, only one. I never read the book, but I saw the movie (yes, several times) and it captured my heart completely.
Yup, The Notebook (book by Nicholas Sparks; movie directed by Nick Cassavetes). This movie has everything: love, drama, heartbreak, humour, passion, Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, and a whole lot of cute.
Even if you didn’t like it, you have to admit that it had some iconic moments and quotes.
Did you swoon when Noah asks Allie to dance in the middle of the street with no music? Because I sure as hell did.
Not to mention the fact that the story starts with Noah telling his story when he is old and grey. My heart didn’t just melt, it was obliterated.
There’s not much else to say, other than I truly did love this story. More than being cute and romantic, I think it had some interesting moments of self-questioning, doing what others want versus what you want, and strong commitment even when all the odds are against you (trying to be vague to avoid spoilers in case, somehow, you still don’t know this story).
OH! I guess, I should mention the reason I chose The Notebook for this topic: Confessions of Love! Well, I think the entire movie is a confession of love. It might seem like it was love-at-first-sight, but I don’t think it was. I think it was like-at-first-sight. Then they got to know each other and the like turned to love.
Noah shows Allie just how much he loves her over and over again throughout the whole movie, and ugh, I’m definitely watching it again this weekend.
